Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened Should be at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cups milk
  • 0.5 cups cocoa powder

Whipped Cream Filling

  • 1 cups heavy cream
  • 0.25 cups powdered sugar Adjust amount for desired sweetness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients and the milk, alternating as you go, until the batter is just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Divide the batter equally into two bowls; to one bowl, add the cocoa powder and mix until fully combined, creating your chocolate batter.

Baking

  • Pour half of the vanilla batter into the prepared loaf pan, then add the chocolate batter on top, followed by the remaining vanilla batter.
  • Use a knife to gently swirl the batters together, creating a marbled effect in the loaf.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Filling

  • While the cake is cooling, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  • Once the loaf cake has completely cooled, slice it horizontally down the center to create two layers.
  • Fill the center with the whipped cream and gently replace the top layer, pressing down slightly to secure it.

Serving

  • Slice, serve, and enjoy the delectable combination of chocolate and vanilla flavors with creamy filling!

Notes

Ensure that the butter is at room temperature for easy creaming with the sugar. To achieve a neat swirl, do not overmix the chocolate and vanilla layers. If you find the whipped cream too soft, you can add a little more powdered sugar or whip it a bit longer.
