Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Add the sliced onions to the bowl and toss to coat.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the onion mixture into the hot oil, flattening them slightly.
  • Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider adding a little cornmeal to the flour mixture. Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying; a drop of the batter should sizzle immediately. Experiment with different seasonings for a unique flavor twist. To store, place in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to three days.
