Ingredients

For the Cupcakes

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup apple cider Unfiltered cider recommended for more flavor
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened Room temperature for easy mixing
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

For the Frosting

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened Room temperature for easier blending
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon For the frosting

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  • In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the apple cider.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with the batter.

Baking

  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool completely.

Frosting

  • For the frosting, beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  • Frost the cooled cupcakes with the spiced buttercream.

Notes

Best served at room temperature. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a thin slice of apple for a fancy touch. Store in an airtight container.
