Instructions
Preparation
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the diced apples, chopped bacon, and whiskey. Cook for about 5 minutes until the apples begin to soften.
Add the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, black pepper, and salt to the mixture.
Bring the mixture to a simmer, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples break down and the mixture thickens, approximately 20-30 minutes.
Remove the sauce from heat and allow it to cool.
Transfer the jam to a jar and refrigerate.
Notes
This jam is perfect for use on burgers, toast, or crackers. It can last for up to two weeks in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
