  • 2 cups diced apples Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best texture and flavor.
  • 1 cup cooked bacon, chopped Adjust based on preference for a richer flavor.
  • 1/2 cup whiskey Flavored whiskey, like honey or spiced, can be used for added depth.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Add more for additional sweetness if desired.
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • to taste salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the diced apples, chopped bacon, and whiskey. Cook for about 5 minutes until the apples begin to soften.
  • Add the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, black pepper, and salt to the mixture.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples break down and the mixture thickens, approximately 20-30 minutes.
  • Remove the sauce from heat and allow it to cool.
  • Transfer the jam to a jar and refrigerate.

Notes

This jam is perfect for use on burgers, toast, or crackers. It can last for up to two weeks in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
