  • 4 tablespoons butter (melted) or coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips

How to Make Applesauce Muffins

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and prepare a 12-cup muffin tin.
  • Mix oats, applesauce, milk, egg, vanilla, melted butter, and sugar in a medium bowl.
  • In a separate large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and raisins/chocolate chips.
  • Create a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the applesauce mixture. Stir until just combined.
  • Divide the batter into muffin cups and bake for 15-20 minutes until done.
  • Cool the muffins on a rack before serving.

Notes

For added sweetness, you can sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on top before baking.
