Ingredients

For the Trifle

  • 4 pieces ripe bananas Use fresh bananas for best flavor.
  • 1 box vanilla pudding mix Check the package for preparation instructions.
  • 2 cups milk Use whole or 2% milk for creamier texture.
  • 1 container whipped topping Choose sweetened or unsweetened based on preference.
  • 1 package Nilla wafers These will be used for layering.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the flavor of the pudding.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pour 2 cups of milk into a mixing bowl. Add the vanilla pudding mix and vanilla extract. Whisk until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Slice the ripe bananas into thin rounds and set aside, optionally sprinkling with lemon juice to prevent browning.

Assembly

  • Begin layering: start with Nilla wafers in a large trifle dish to cover the bottom.
  • Add a layer of banana slices over the wafers.
  • Spread a layer of vanilla pudding over the banana slices.
  • Repeat the layers of Nilla wafers, banana slices, and pudding until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped topping.

Chill

  • Cover the trifle dish with plastic wrap or a lid. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld and wafers to soften.

Notes

To avoid browning bananas, assemble as close to serving as possible. Whisk pudding to ensure it's thick before layering. Add cocoa powder for a chocolate twist or crushed nuts for added texture.
