Ingredients

Seafood and Sauce

  • 4 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 fillets salmon (6 oz each), skin on or off depending on preference
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning A blend of paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and oregano for bold flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For searing the shrimp and salmon.
  • 2 tablespoons butter One for cooking seafood, one for sautéing garlic.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced For aromatic flavor.
  • 1 cup heavy cream For rich texture.
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth To thin the sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard Adds tangy flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt To taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground To taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika For smoky depth.

Mashed Potatoes

  • 4 medium russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup milk For creamy consistency.
  • 1/4 cup butter For richness.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.

Green Beans

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons butter For sautéing.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced For flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) For extra heat.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.

Instructions

Preparation of Mashed Potatoes

  • Peel and cut the russet potatoes into even chunks. Add to a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil.
  • Cook for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender. Drain and return to the pot.
  • Mash potatoes with a masher or hand mixer until smooth. Add butter and milk, then season with salt and pepper.
  • Cover and set aside to keep warm.

Cooking Seafood

  • Pat the shrimp and salmon fillets dry, season with Cajun seasoning.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  • Remove shrimp and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add butter and let melt. Cook salmon for 4-5 minutes on each side until cooked through.
  • Remove salmon and set aside with shrimp.

Making the Sauce

  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Add heavy cream, chicken broth, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Stir and bring to a simmer.
  • Let sauce cook for 4-5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  • Return the shrimp and salmon to the skillet, spoon sauce over and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Preparing Green Beans

  • Boil salted water, add green beans and cook for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  • Drain green beans, melt butter in a skillet, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sauté until fragrant.
  • Add green beans to the skillet, sauté until slightly caramelized.

Serving

  • Plate mashed potatoes, top with salmon and shrimp, drizzle with garlic cream sauce.
  • Serve sautéed green beans on the side. Garnish with fresh herbs or lemon wedges.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for best flavor. Adjust Cajun seasoning for heat preference. Don't rush the sauce; let it simmer to enhance flavors.
