Fudge Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup diced apples Use a variety of sweet and tart apples for best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts Optional, toast lightly for added flavor.

Instructions

Preparation and Cooking

  • Grease a square baking pan and set aside.
  • In a saucepan, combine sugar, brown sugar, butter, and evaporated milk.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil.
  • Continue boiling for about 5 minutes without stirring.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, salt, and chopped apples.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Let it cool at room temperature and cut into squares.
  • Optional: Sprinkle chopped nuts on top before it sets.

Notes

To keep your fudge fresh, store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Refrigeration can extend its shelf life to two weeks.
