Ingredients

For the pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed
  • 1 each egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water For egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

For the filling

  • 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Great options for sweetness and tartness
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface to smooth it out.
  • Cut the pastry into squares or rectangles.
  • In a bowl, mix the diced apples with brown sugar and granulated sugar.
  • Place a spoonful of the apple mixture onto the center of each pastry piece.
  • Fold the pastry over to seal, using the egg wash to help the edges stick.
  • Brush the top of each pastry with the egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar. Can be complemented with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Best enjoyed fresh.
