Cheesy Pizza Crust

A delicious homemade pizza crust filled with gooey cheese, perfect for customizing with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

For the crust

  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 2 1/4 cups bread flour (divided)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast about a 0.25 oz package
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup warm water Ensure water is warm but not hot to activate yeast

  • to taste desired toppings (like pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Sprinkle cornmeal in a thin layer in two 12-inch pizza pans. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • In a stand mixer bowl, add 1 cup bread flour, yeast, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  • Add warm water to the flour mixture. Using a paddle attachment, blend on low speed for 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes.
  • Switch to the dough hook attachment. Gradually stir in enough remaining bread flour to make a firm dough. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • Punch down the dough. Divide it into 2 equal parts. With well-floured or greased fingers, press each half into prepared pans.
  • Top with desired toppings.

Baking

  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the edges are crisp and golden brown and the cheeses are melted.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftover Cheesy Pizza Crust in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap/aluminum foil for up to 3 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to a month.
