Ingredients

For the cake

  • 1.5 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped baking apples

  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar For topping

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, oil, egg, buttermilk, and vanilla until mixed well.
  • Add flour, baking soda, and salt; stir until just combined.
  • Gently fold in chopped apples until evenly distributed.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • In a small bowl, mix together topping ingredients until crumbly; sprinkle over the batter.

Baking

  • Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Notes
