  • 1.5 cups brown sugar Packed
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.33 cups oil Can use vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chopped baking apples Like Granny Smith

For the topping

  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix brown sugar, oil, egg, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add flour, baking soda, and salt; stir just until combined.
  • Gently fold in the chopped apples.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

Topping and Baking

  • For the topping, combine granulated sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter; sprinkle it over the batter.
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Notes
