Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk You can substitute with milk mixed with lemon juice or vinegar.
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter You can substitute with melted coconut oil for a dairy-free option.

Coating

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar For coating donuts.
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon For coating donuts.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and grease the donut pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter until well blended.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; small lumps are fine.
  • Spoon the batter into the greased donut pan, filling each cavity halfway.

  • Check the donuts at 5 minutes with a toothpick inserted into the center.

Finishing Touch

  • While the donuts are cooking, mix the coating: combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
  • Transfer warm donuts to a wire rack, then dip each into the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Serve warm for the best experience.

Notes

Best enjoyed the same day they're made; can be stored in an airtight container for 24 hours. To refresh, reheat in the air fryer.
