Instructions
How to Make Classic Pastry Scones
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Grate frozen butter into the dry mixture, then cut it in using a fork or pastry blender.
In a separate bowl, whisk together yogurt, cream, egg, and vanilla until well blended.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, along with your chosen mix-ins, and gently fold together until it forms clumps.
Knead the mixture by hand until it forms a ball, being careful not to overmix.
Pat and shape the dough into an 8-inch circle, then cut into 8 wedges and place on the baking sheet.
Bake for 16-18 minutes until golden brown. Allow the scones to cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
To make the glaze, combine powdered sugar with milk until smooth, then drizzle over the scones.
Notes
For extra indulgence, serve warm scones with clotted cream and jam.
