Preparation
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Mix in the vanilla extract.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
Baking
Drop tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.
Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
