Ingredients
  

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 5-6 tart apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch wedges (about 2 lb)
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 lemon (substitute with bottled lemon juice)

Instructions
 

  • Peel, core, and slice the apples into 1/2-inch wedges. Squeeze lemon juice over the slices to prevent browning.
  • In a cast-iron skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the apple slices to the skillet with melted butter. Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Cover and cook the apples for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the apples are tender and caramelized, remove from heat and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a splash of vanilla extract or a sprinkle of nutmeg to the apples.
