Ingredients

Frosting Base

  • 1 package 8-ounce package full-fat cream cheese, softened Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.

Flavoring

  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract Can be substituted with other extracts for flavor variation.

Sweetness

  • 4 cups powdered sugar Sift before adding to avoid lumps.

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until smooth using a hand mixer or a stand mixer, about 2 minutes.
  • Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract and beat again until creamy and smooth.
  • If you prefer a thinner consistency, add a splash of milk or cream until you reach your desired texture.

Notes

Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Allow it to reach room temperature and re-whip before using. For a flavored twist, consider using almond or lemon extract, or folding in crushed fruit or chocolate chips.
