  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest Zest from fresh oranges.
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips or orange-flavored chips Can substitute with other chip varieties.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, vanilla extract, and orange zest until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in the white chocolate chips or orange-flavored chips.
  • Drop heaping tablespoons of the dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze them up to three months. You can also experiment with different types of chips or add nuts for extra crunch.
