Instructions

Preparation

  • Clean and prepare mushrooms by removing any dirt and trimming the stems if necessary.
  • Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with flour, another with beaten eggs, and a final bowl with a mixture of panko, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne.

Frying

  • Dredge each mushroom in flour, shaking off any excess.
  • Dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with the panko mixture, ensuring an even layer.
  • Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat to a depth that allows the mushrooms to be submerged halfway.
  • Fry the coated mushrooms in small batches until golden brown and crispy, approximately 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Carefully remove them from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

Serve warm with a dipping sauce like ranch dressing, marinara, or spicy aioli. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives if desired. For healthier options, consider baking instead of frying.
