  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Stuffing Mixture

  • 1 box (6 oz) stuffing mix (e.g., Stove Top)
  • 1 cup chicken broth Adjust the amount for desired stuffing moisture
  • 2 tablespoons butter (optional, for extra richness) Melted for mixing with stuffing

Seasonings

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Combine the shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, and sour cream in a large bowl. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasonings to taste.

Assembly

  • Transfer the chicken mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
  • Prepare the stuffing by mixing the dry stuffing mix with melted butter until evenly coated.
  • Gradually add chicken broth, stirring until the stuffing is moist but not soggy.
  • Spread the stuffing mixture over the chicken layer in the baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  • Allow to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For an added flavor boost, consider using homemade chicken broth. You can enhance the dish with cooked vegetables like peas or carrots. Swapping out the stuffing mix with gluten-free options like quinoa is also recommended.
