Ingredients

  • 2 cups diced apples Use firm and slightly tart apples for the best results.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour for gluten-free version.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Can experiment with nutmeg for additional flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk Plant-based milk can be used for a vegan version.
  • 1 large egg A flax egg can be used for a vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • as needed spray cooking spray For air fryer basket.
  • as needed powdered sugar for dusting Optional, for serving.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the diced apples, sugar, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Mix the wet and dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  • Use a spoon to drop portions of the batter into the air fryer basket without them touching.

Cooking

  • Air fry for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown, flipping them halfway through.
  • Allow them to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

These fritters are best enjoyed warm, paired with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce. Store in an airtight container for up to two days, or freeze for a month.
