  • 4 large Russet potatoes Washed and peeled
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • Thinly slice the washed and peeled potatoes.
  • Layer half of the potato slices in the prepared dish; season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add half of the cheddar cheese on top.
  • Pour half of the heavy cream over the layer.
  • Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, seasoning, cheese, and cream.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for about 1 hour; remove the foil in the last 15 minutes for a golden crust.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider using half-and-half instead of heavy cream. You can also add cooked bacon, sautéed mushrooms, or fresh herbs for variation.
