Easy Swiss Mushroom Melt

Ingredients

For the Sandwich

  • 4 slices slices of bread Use your choice of bread.
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced Any variety such as shiitake, cremini, or portobello.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Can be substituted with a vegan alternative.
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese Substitute with provolone or gouda if desired.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add sliced mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until golden brown.
  • Toast the bread slices in a separate pan until golden.

Assembly

  • Place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each toasted bread slice.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms on top of two slices of cheese-covered bread.
  • Top with the remaining cheese-covered bread to form sandwiches.

Cooking

  • Cook the sandwiches in the skillet until the cheese is melty and the bread is crispy, flipping once.

Serving

  • Serve hot with a side of crispy potato fries, a fresh salad, or vegetable soup.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet for best results. Add fresh herbs or a drizzle of balsamic glaze for extra flavor.
