Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound brioche, challah, French bread, or white bread preferably a day old
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons cold butter, cut into pieces

Instructions
 

  • Lightly grease a 9x13" baking dish. Cut the bread into 1-inch chunks and place in the dish.
  • Whisk together eggs, cream, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla. Pour over the bread cubes. Toss to coat. Refrigerate overnight.
  • Mix brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter until crumbly. Refrigerate.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Sprinkle topping over the French toast and bake for 45-50 minutes.
  • Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving. Top with syrup, berries, or whipped cream.

Notes

For extra sweetness, drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
