  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter for melting
  • 1 package mini marshmallows (10 oz) for sweetness and binding
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger for spice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg for warmth
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal the base of the treat
  • 1/2 cup molasses for depth of flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Add the marshmallows, ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg, stirring until melted and smooth.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and molasses.
  • Fold in the Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.
  • Press the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch pan.
  • Allow to cool, then cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Best enjoyed within a week but can last up to two weeks if stored properly. Avoid refrigeration to maintain texture.
