Ingredients

Filling

  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced Tart apples like Granny Smith work wonderfully.
  • 1/4 cup honey Can be substituted with maple syrup.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg.

Topping

  • 1 cup oats Can use traditional or gluten-free oats.
  • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped Walnuts or almonds are great options.
  • 1/4 cup butter or coconut oil For greasing the baking dish.

Optional Serving

  • 1 scoop ice cream For serving, optional but recommended.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, honey, and cinnamon. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
  • Transfer the apple mixture to a greased baking dish.
  • In another bowl, mix the oats and chopped nuts together. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apples.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  • Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of ice cream on top.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm in the oven or microwave.
