Ingredients

For the Donuts

  • 1 cup almond flour Can substitute with coconut flour for a gluten-free option.
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup protein powder Any protein powder can be used; adjust flavor as desired.
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 3 large eggs Can substitute with flax eggs for a vegan option.
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, cocoa powder, protein powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together honey, eggs, applesauce, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  • Fill the donut pan with the batter.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool before removing from the pan and enjoy!

Notes

For an extra touch, consider adding a drizzle of melted dark chocolate or a dollop of Greek yogurt on top. You can also sprinkle some chopped nuts or shredded coconut for added texture and flavor. Store in an airtight container for up to two days or refrigerate for up to a week.
