Homemade Nutella

A delightful spread made from roasted hazelnuts, cocoa, and your choice of sweetener, perfect for breakfast or desserts.

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 cups hazelnuts Roasted
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup sweetener of choice Maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar can be used.
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk or 2 tbsp oil Optional, add to adjust consistency.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (about 200°C) and bake hazelnuts for 6-8 minutes or until they begin to brown.
  • Rub the hazelnuts with a paper towel to remove the skins.

Blending

  • In a Vitamix or food processor, blend the hazelnuts until they turn into butter, which may take up to twenty minutes.
  • Add all other ingredients except milk or oil, then blend until the mixture becomes smooth.
  • If desired, mix in the milk or oil to reach your desired consistency.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Let it return to room temperature before serving for best consistency. For extra flavor, roast the hazelnuts longer or add espresso powder for a mocha twist.
