Ingredients

Pasta and Sauce Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta of choice Any pasta shape can be used, such as spaghetti, penne, or fusilli.
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, sliced Can be substituted with chicken sausage or plant-based sausage.
  • 1/4 cup honey Adjust the amount to taste.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Ensure it is gluten-free if necessary.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced For added depth of flavor, sauté garlic before adding to the sauce.
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes Adjust to suit your spice level.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil Used for cooking the sausage.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season to taste.
  • Chopped green onions for garnish For serving.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced Italian sausage and cook until browned.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes.
  • Pour the honey garlic sauce over the cooked sausage in the skillet. Stir well to combine and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm on the stovetop over low heat with a splash of water or broth. This dish can also be frozen for up to 2 months, but the texture may change upon thawing.
