Preparation
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over the rolled-out dough, leaving a 1 inch border around the edges.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the marinara sauce.
Layer sliced pepperoni, bell peppers, and mushrooms on top of the cheese.
Season the filling with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Starting from one long end, tightly roll the dough into a log shape.
Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the top of the Stromboli.
Baking
Bake the Stromboli in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Let the Stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing into thick pieces. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce.
Notes
Customize your fillings with other toppings such as cooked sausage, olives, or spinach. You can prepare the Stromboli ahead of time and refrigerate it before baking. Stromboli can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
