  • Beat softened butter in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually mix in powdered sugar until well combined and smooth.
  • Add fresh lemon juice and lemon zest to the mixture, and continue mixing until the frosting is smooth and easy to spread.
  • Use the frosting to decorate cakes, cupcakes, or cookies.

Notes

Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to three months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before re-whipping.
