Ingredients

For the liver

  • 1 lb beef liver Can substitute with chicken liver for a different flavor profile.
  • salt For seasoning.
  • pepper For seasoning.
  • flour For dusting.
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil For cooking the liver.

For the mashed potatoes

  • 2 lbs potatoes Peel and dice before boiling.
  • 2-3 tbsp butter For mashing.
  • 1/2 cup milk For creaminess.
  • salt For seasoning.
  • pepper For seasoning.

For the green beans

  • 1 lb fresh green beans Trim the ends before cooking.
  • 1 tbsp butter For flavor.
  • a pinch of salt For seasoning.
  • water For steaming.

Instructions

Preparation of mashed potatoes

  • Peel and dice the potatoes.
  • Boil in salted water until tender (about 15-20 minutes), then drain.
  • Mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.

Preparation of liver

  • Rinse and pat dry the liver slices.
  • Season with salt and pepper and lightly dust with flour.
  • In a skillet, heat butter or oil over medium-high heat and cook the liver for 2-3 minutes per side until cooked to your preference.

Preparation of green beans

  • Trim the ends of the green beans and steam or boil them in salted water for about 5-7 minutes until crisp-tender.
  • Drain and toss with butter and a pinch of salt.

Serving

  • Plate a portion of mashed potatoes, top with the liver slices, and add a serving of green beans.
  • Optionally, garnish with a small pat of butter or a sprinkle of herbs.

Notes

Keep any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat gently to maintain texture and flavor.
