4ozcream cheese, softened
1/2cupmayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a tangier, lighter swap)
1cupshredded cheddar (or a 50/50 cheddar-parmesan blend)
1/3cupgrated Parmesan cheese
2clovesgarlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
1tspItalian seasoning (or a mix of dried basil/oregano)
1-2tbspolive oil or butter for searing
1/4cupbreadcrumbs or panko (optional)for a crunchy top
chopped parsley (optional)for garnish
Instructions
Prep and Seasoning
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Pat chicken dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, and a little Italian seasoning.
Mix Sauce
In a medium bowl, beat together softened cream cheese, mayonnaise (or yogurt), minced garlic, parmesan, and half the shredded cheddar until smooth. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
Sear Chicken (optional)
Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken 1-2 minutes on each side for color.
Transfer seared chicken to a 9x13 baking dish.
Assemble and Bake
Spread the creamy cheese mixture evenly over each chicken breast.
Sprinkle remaining cheddar and breadcrumbs/panko on top if using.
Bake uncovered for 20-30 minutes, until the topping is bubbly and the chicken's internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
If the top browns too quickly, tent with foil.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
