  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Let cream cheese sit at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded Split into half for layering.
  • 1 cup buttery crackers, crushed Approximately 30 crackers.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish Add for fresh flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well-combined.
  • Gently fold in the shredded chicken and half of the cheddar cheese.

Assembly

  • Spread the chicken mixture evenly into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the crushed buttery crackers with the remaining cheddar cheese. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the chicken.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the casserole is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  • Allow it to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

This casserole is great to make ahead and can be frozen. Store leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2-3 months.
