Frosting Base
1cupunsalted butter (softened)You can use salted butter instead; adjust salt amount accordingly.
1poundpowdered sugarAbout 3.5-4 cups.
1teaspoonvanilla extractFor flavor.
1/4teaspoonsaltTo taste.
2tablespoonswhipping cream or milkOptional; can increase up to 1/4 cup.

10-12piecesOreos or other sandwich cookiesFinely crushed.

Preparation
Pulse the cookies in a food processor or crush finely with a knife.
Mixing the Frosting
Add the softened butter to a standing mixer or a large bowl with a handheld mixer. Mix on medium to medium high for 3-4 minutes, until the butter is pale and fluffy.
Add the powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla. Mix on low for 30-60 seconds to avoid a powdered sugar cloud.
Once well combined, turn up the speed and mix on medium high for another 3-4 minutes until light and fluffy.
Adjust the consistency by adding milk or cream, mixing for another minute until incorporated.
Add the crushed cookies and mix for another minute until evenly distributed.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Let it come to room temperature and remix before use. Can freeze for up to three months; thaw overnight in the fridge.
