Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast Ensure the yeast is fresh for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water Must be warm to activate the yeast.
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour Can be substituted with bread flour for a chewier crust.
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  • Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  • Transfer to a pizza stone or baking sheet, add your favorite toppings, and bake for 12-15 minutes.

Notes

Let the pizza cool for a minute before slicing for clean cuts. Serve with marinara or garlic dipping sauce.
