Cake

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks, room temperature)
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 2 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 large egg yolks (room temperature)
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups cake flour (sifted)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream

Caramel Icing

  • 3/4 cups salted butter (1 1/2 sticks)
  • 24 oz evaporated milk (2 (12 oz cans))
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Instructions

Cake and Caramel Icing Assembly

  • Prepare the cake layers and caramel icing as instructed in the recipe.
  • Spread the caramel icing generously between the cake layers and on top of the cake.
  • Allow the cake to set for about 30 minutes before serving.

Notes
