Ingredients
  

Red Velvet Bars

  • 8 oz unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 TBSP vanilla extract
  • 1 TBSP red gel food coloring
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup powdered buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup marshmallow cream

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 4 oz unsalted butter (softened)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 pound powdered sugar (4 cups)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 TBSP heavy cream (or milk)

Instructions
 

Red Velvet Bars with Cream Cheese Frosting

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add eggs, egg yolks, vanilla, and red food coloring. Mix well.
  • Add flour, cocoa, buttermilk, salt, and baking soda. Mix until combined. Pour into the pan and bake.
  • For the frosting, cream butter and cream cheese. Add marshmallow cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Blend until creamy.
  • Spread the frosting over the cooled bars. Chill before serving.

Notes

Feel free to add chopped nuts or chocolate chips for extra crunch and flavor.
