Roasted Garlic and Herb Cheese Ball

A deliciously creamy cheese ball made with roasted garlic, cream cheese, sharp cheddar, and fresh herbs, perfect for any gathering or snack board.

Ingredients

Cheese Mixture

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Room temperature for easy mixing
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Sharp or mild, depending on preference
  • 1/2 cup roasted garlic, mashed About 1 head of roasted garlic
  • 1/4 cup fresh herbs, chopped Parsley, chives, thyme, or a mix
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt Taste and adjust as needed

Optional Coating

  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts Pecans, walnuts, or almonds

For Serving

  • to taste Crackers, bread, or fresh vegetables For serving

Instructions

Preparation

  • Soften the cream cheese at room temperature for 30–60 minutes for easiest mixing.
  • Roast garlic ahead of time: toss a head of garlic with olive oil, wrap in foil, and roast at 400°F (205°C) for 30–40 minutes until very soft; mash into a paste.

Mixing

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, mashed roasted garlic, and chopped herbs.
  • Season with black pepper and salt, then mix until smooth and evenly combined.

Forming and Chilling

  • Shape the mixture into a ball, wrap tightly with plastic wrap, and chill for at least 2 hours to firm up.
  • Before serving, roll the outside in chopped nuts if using.

Serving

  • Serve with crackers, sliced baguette, or crisp vegetables.

Notes

This cheese ball can be made 24 hours ahead. Roll in nuts right before serving to keep them crunchy.
