Ingredients
  

Cake

  • 3/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 small box instant caramel pudding mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Caramel Sauce

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the sauce by whisking together butter, sugar, and heavy cream in a pot over medium heat until thick and dark in color.
  • Let the sauce cool to room temperature and divide it in half. Set one half aside.
  • Add powdered sugar, salt, and heavy whipping cream to the other half of the sauce to make a thick glaze. Pour over the cake and allow it to set.
  • Drizzle the reserved half of the sauce over the top of the cake.
  • Cut into 12 slices and serve.

Notes

For an added crunch, sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts on top of the glazed cake before serving.
