  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Full-fat gives the best texture; reduced-fat will be firmer.
  • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped Tails removed; medium shrimp work well.
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded Low-moisture or fresh fine-shredded.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Plus extra for coating.
  • 2 tablespoons chives, chopped Or green onions.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Remove the cream cheese from the fridge and let it soften at room temperature for 20–30 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped cooked shrimp, shredded mozzarella, and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until evenly combined.
  • Use lightly oiled hands or a spatula to shape the mixture into a compact ball.
  • Pour the grated Parmesan and chopped chives onto a plate and roll the cheese ball until it’s evenly coated.
  • Wrap the ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.

Serving

  • Serve chilled with crackers, toasted baguette slices, or fresh vegetable crudités.

Notes

This cheese ball keeps well chilled and can be prepped the day before. It’s best served with neutral crackers to balance the shrimp flavor. Store tightly wrapped for up to 3 days.
