Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs beef steak, cut into cubes Choose chuck or round cuts for tenderness.
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced Layer at the bottom for even cooking.
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded Add towards the end of cooking for best texture.
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season according to preference.

Preparation

  • In a slow cooker, layer the sliced potatoes and chopped onions.
  • Add the cubed steak on top of the potatoes.
  • Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper over the meat and potatoes.
  • Pour the beef broth over the entire mixture.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the steak and potatoes are tender.
  • About 30 minutes before serving, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top and cover until melted.

Notes

This casserole can be complemented with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables. Consider serving with sour cream or fresh herbs like parsley or chives.
