Ingredients

Meatball Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, and chopped green onions. Mix until well combined.
  • Form the mixture into small meatballs, approximately 1 inch in diameter.
  • Place the meatballs in the slow cooker.

Making the Sauce

  • In a separate bowl, mix together the teriyaki sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and salt.
  • Pour the sauce over the meatballs in the slow cooker.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
  • Once cooked, serve the meatballs garnished with sesame seeds and additional green onions.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the meatball mixture rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before forming them. You can use store-bought meatballs; just adjust the cooking time accordingly. Customize the spice level by adding red pepper flakes or sriracha to the sauce for a kick. Consider serving the meatballs as sliders on Hawaiian rolls.
