Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a small baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, spices, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together brown sugar, molasses, melted butter, milk, and the egg.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top.

Baking

  • Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to three days at room temperature or refrigerate for a week.
