Cook Time 18 minutes
Total Time 28 minutes
Serving Size 12 crackers

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Freshly shredded cheese is recommended for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure the butter is at room temperature.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional, adjust based on spice preference.
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, cheddar cheese, butter, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add the cold water, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes.
  • Place the crackers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Store the crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to three months. Experiment with different cheeses and adjust the spice level by omitting or increasing cayenne pepper. Keeping the dough uniform in thickness will ensure even baking.
