Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded Use fresh cheese for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Seasonings

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Add for spice; adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ice water Add as needed to adjust dough consistency.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese and softened butter, mixing until well combined.
  • Add in the flour, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper, and mix until the dough starts to come together.
  • If the dough is too dry, add ice water a little at a time until it holds together.
  • Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  • Cut into desired shapes and place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

These cheese crackers can be enjoyed on their own or served as part of a cheese platter or with dips. Store leftover crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or freeze for longer storage.
