White Garlic Pizza Sauce

Ingredients

For the sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream (240 ml)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (50 g)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic to the saucepan and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the garlic and stir to create a roux, cooking for 1 more minute.
  • Slowly whisk in the heavy cream, ensuring there are no lumps.
  • Stir in the salt, black pepper, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes.
  • Continue cooking the sauce over medium heat, whisking continuously until it thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  • Allow the sauce to cool slightly before using it on your pizza.

Notes

Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze in an ice cube tray.
