Ingredients
  

Cake Batter

  • 2 ¾ cups cake flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • cup canola oil or vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 Tablespoon clear vanilla extract
  • 6 large or extra-large egg whites
  • ¼ cup dark cocoa powder
  • 2 Tablespoons very hot or boiling water
  • 2 Tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar

Frosting

  • White Chocolate Frosting (or preferred frosting)

Instructions
 

  • Mix hot water, cocoa powder, sour cream, and sugar. Combine with the white batter.
  • Alternate dolloping white and chocolate batters into prepared cake pans.
  • Bake at 350F for 35-40 minutes. Cool and assemble the cake with frosting.
  • Decorate with frosting of choice and enjoy the beautiful zebra stripes!

Notes

For a more decadent version, consider adding chocolate chips to the cake batter.
