Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp garlic powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 0.5 cups cold unsalted butter, cubed Keep cold for flaky texture.
  • 2-3 tbsp cold water Add gradually until just combined.

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated Feel free to experiment with different cheeses.
  • 0.25 cups chopped fresh chives
  • 0.25 cups finely chopped onion Can swap for shallots or green onions.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, and garlic powder.
  • Add the cubed butter and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the cheddar cheese, chives, and onion.
  • Gradually add cold water, mixing until just combined.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently.
  • Roll out to about 1-inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter.

Baking

  • Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving

  • Serve warm straight from the oven with butter or jam.

Notes

To store, allow to cool completely and place in an airtight container. Lasts at room temperature for 2 days, refrigerate for a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
