Yummy Cream Puff Cake

Ingredients

For the pastry

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter Ensure it is fully melted.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs Be careful not to overmix once added.

For the filling

  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix Can substitute with chocolate or other flavors.
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • Powdered sugar For dusting before serving.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a baking sheet.
  • In a medium saucepan, bring water and butter to a boil.
  • Add flour to the boiling mixture and stir vigorously until it forms a ball. Remove from heat.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Let cool.

Filling

  • Prepare the filling by whisking the vanilla pudding mix with milk until thick.
  • Fold in the whipped cream.

Assembly

  • Cut the puff cakes in half, fill with the cream mixture, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Best enjoyed within a couple of days to retain crispness. You can bake the puffs ahead of time and fill them just before serving.
